The City invites citizens to an Open House on Wednesday, May 22 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Kenmore City Hall, 18120 68th Ave NE. Citizens are encouraged to attend to provide comment and input about future needs and priorities for park and recreation facilities, and activities for Kenmore.
The Open House is part of the public involvement process for updating the City's Park, Recreation and Open Space strategic plan last updated in 2003. The park plan will serve as a guide for the development of parks and recreational facilities over the next ten years. The City is also conducting a random telephone survey of approximately 300 Kenmore residents about park use, and park and recreation needs. In addition, the City is contacting other recreation providers and facility users for input. The Planning Commission will develop a draft plan over the next several months with a public hearing and recommendation to Council this fall.

The Kenmore City Council adopted the City’s first Parks and Recreation Master Plan in April 2003. The plan includes a series of recommendations regarding actions the City should take to increase the availability of park and recreation facilities and services to Kenmore residents. The plan prioritizes improvements to existing City parks while also recommending that the City take advantage of some key property acquisitions when properties become available and when grant funding can be leveraged to stretch limited City resources. The plan recommends that the City not become a direct provider of recreation services, but should partner with existing providers so that the availability of these services to Kenmore residents can be increased.
