Kenmore selected for the Strongest Town Contest Sweet Sixteen lineup
Voting begins today in the 6th annual Strongest Town Contest and the City of Kenmore is in the running. Kenmore was selected nationally for embodying the Strong Towns approach to building stronger and more financially resilient communities. Kenmore is one of 16 cities chosen to show off its strength alongside thriving, hard-working cities and towns across the United States and Canada. View the full lineup
The Strongest Town Contest celebrates the towns and cities doing the hard work of becoming stronger, responding to local challenges—and addressing local opportunities—with creativity, intelligence, humility, and courage. Kenmore's affordable housing policies, pedestrian and cyclist friendly projects, financial sustainability planning, and pandemic response programs are a few examples of Strong Towns values. “We’re super excited to be selected for the Sweet 16 and believe it’s a reflection of the City Council’s vision and leadership as well as our amazing community," said City Manager Rob Karlinsey. "We hope our residents will take a moment to vote and advance Kenmore to the Elite Eight!”
After a year of hardship, this contest recognizes towns and cities that have persevered through shutdowns, slowdowns, and loss. These 16 communities, including Kenmore, are poised to spring back stronger than before.
"It's thrilling to see the enthusiasm and positive spirit that emerges from each city that participates in the Strongest Town Contest," Rachel Quednau, Strong Towns Program Director, said. "The competition consistently generates transformative ideas that inspire communities around the country to grow more financially resilient."
The first round of voting runs through 12 p.m. on March 18. Visit the Strong Town Contest page to cast your vote.
