Federal Disaster Assistance Available to King County Residents and Businesses Affected by November Bomb Cyclone

Post Date:01/16/2025 12:18 PM

The SBA Office of Recovery and Resilience has made a declaration for Washington State as a result of the Nov. 17 – 25, 2024, Bomb Cyclone. This makes SBA disaster loans available to homeowners, renters, businesses of all sizes and private non-profit organizations.  SBA, King County and Snohomish County have opened Disaster Loan Outreach Centers (DLOCs) to assist residents and businesses to apply for this assistance.

SBA disaster loans are available to residents and businesses in Chelan, King, Kitsap, Kittitas, Pierce, Snohomish and Yakima counties who were negatively affected by the storms. To date, SBA has approved loans for over $2 million to residents and businesses in Washington State.

SBA can offer up to $500,000 to homeowners for repairs or replacement of their primary residence, up to $100,000 to homeowners and renters to replace personal property (including cars) and up to $2 million to businesses for both physical and economic losses. SBA can also offer mitigation funds of up to 20% of a homeowner or business to take measures to prevent damage in the future.

SBA currently has three DLOCs open in King and Snohomish counties. At these centers, people can connect directly with SBA specialists to apply for disaster loans and learn about the full range of state and federal programs available to rebuild and move forward in their recovery journey.
