City of Kenmore receives a Municipal Champion Award for leadership on creating affordable housing
The Housing Development Consortium (HDC) of Seattle-King County awarded the City of Kenmore with a Municipal Champion Award. The City was nominated by A Regional Coalition for Housing (ARCH). This award recognizes exemplary city leadership towards creating an affordable community for all residents and the actions taken by elected officials and city staff to preserve manufactured housing communities, and work on the Multi-Family Tax Exemption. This award also particularly recognizes Kenmore Mayor David Baker’s service as co-chair of the Regional Affordable Housing Task Force.
“I am delighted the City is receiving this award and recognition,” said Mayor Baker. “The City looks forward to continuing its commitment to meet the housing needs of all community members in partnership with ARCH and the HDC.”
The award was planned to be presented to Kenmore officials during the HDC’s Annual Celebration on March 25th, 2020. However, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic the event was canceled, and the award will now be presented during the virtual City Council meeting on July 27th.
