City of Kenmore Seeks Candidates for Planning Commission

Kenmore, WA – The City of Kenmore is seeking volunteers to serve on the Planning Commission. Candidates must be Kenmore residents and could be selected to start a three-year term starting in January 2021, or could fill a future vacancy. The application deadline is November 16, 2020.

The Planning Commission serves as a policy advisory body to the City Council providing guidance andrecommendations on the City’s Comprehensive Plan and related land use documents. Administrative rules govern how the Planning Commission conducts its business.

The seven-member Commission typically meets the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at KenmoreCity Hall. All commission members are unpaid volunteers. During the pandemic, the Planning Commission is meeting online using the Zoom software platform.

Desirable qualities of a commissioner include a strong interest in the future of the Kenmore community, an ability to review the meeting materials in advance, and the ability to communicate well with others. The City Council is committed to appointing a Commission that reflects the diversity of the community including members from all geographic areas of the city. All residents are encouraged to apply.

To apply, please submit an application no later than 5 p.m. on November 16, 2020. Applications should be submitted to Debbie Bent, Community Development Director via mail at Kenmore City Hall, 18120 68th Ave NE Kenmore, WA 98028 or via email at dbent@kenmorewa.gov. The Council will be interviewing potential candidates before making appointments. Candidates will be notified regarding interview dates and times. For more details, see kenmorewa.gov/planningcommission, or call 425-398-8900. Thank you for your consideration and for sharing this information if you know someone who might be interested in serving on the Planning Commission.
