The City of Kenmore City Council and city staff have been developing a frame-work to help understand issues of sys-temic racism facing our community. In November 2020, the Kenmore City Council approved the 2021 timeline and framework.
The 2021-2022 Kenmore City Budget provides funding for a new Human Re-source Manager position. Part of the Human Resource Manager’s duties will include managing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) policy devel-opment including overseeing a DEI con-sultant contract, plan implementation and training and providing staff support to an appointed DEI Task Force.
The consultant and task force’s scope of work will include leading a community engagement process, understanding the most marginalized members of the community and their needs, and devel-oping recommendations for DEI policies and programs for the City to implement.
If you are interested in becoming a member of this task force in 2021, visit www.kenmorewa.gov/DEI or follow Kenmore’s social media to watch for announcements about the application process.
