SCOPE OF SERVICES

City Council Retreat Facilitation Services

The City of Kenmore uses meeting facilitation services several times per year. Meetings needing facilitation include the City Council’s annual retreat and midyear retreat.  Each retreat can be one to two days, depending on the agenda items needing to be discussed. Retreat facilitation services usually include the following:

  1. Individually interviewing City Councilmembers about issues they wish to discuss on the retreat agenda.
  2. Working with the City Manager and City Clerk in drafting a retreat agenda.
  3. Facilitating the retreat agenda, including the following:
    1. Conducting the discussion and keeping the schedule of the agenda on track.
    2. Taking notes of what was discussed and what was agreed upon.
    3. Team building and conflict resolution (helping the City Council improve their working relationships and working together as a team)
    4. Goal and priority setting
    5. Producing a written retreat report that summarizes the meeting, including agreements reached

In addition, the City Council utilizes the services of a meeting facilitator for the City Manager’s annual performance evaluation, which is conducted annually in October. The City Manager’s evaluation consists of an evening meeting in executive session with the City Manager and the City Council, followed by an evaluation report written by the facilitator.

On call services:  In addition to the services described above, the City may call upon the facilitator for other meetings, including but not limited to help with appointed task forces or commissions, team building, and conflict resolution.
