Councilmember Sasson currently holds Position No. 3 on the City Council.

Valerie and her family have made the Moorlands neighborhood of Kenmore home since 2003. Her kids went through the Northshore schools and are Inglemoor High School graduates. She was co-owner and resident midwife of the Puget Sound Birth Center in Kirkland and an adjunct faculty at Bastyr University before retiring in 2022. A member of numerous professional boards and associations, Valerie comes to the Kenmore City Council with extensive small business and public policy experience and a lifelong commitment to social and environmental justice.

Valier is a graduate of Brown University ('86) and the Seattle Midwifery School ('99).

She gardens, hikes, sails, kayaks, bikes, cooks, knits, does yoga, and generally loves all that Kenmore has to offer.
