Project Description

  • What the City is Doing, and Why – A contractor will construct a new underground stormwater detention tank, replacing an existing tank that has reached the end of its useful life and is difficult to maintain. A new stormwater treatment facility will also be constructed, and an existing storm drain on NE 197th Street will be replaced and rerouted to discharge to the new treatment facility. These improvements will decrease the amount of stormwater-borne pollution discharged to a local stream known as Tributary 0056 (AKA “Tschet Cha Thl”) and enable City staff to more easily maintain its stormwater management assets.

  • What to Expect – During construction, people residing or traveling near the work site may experience the following impacts:
    • Traffic – The project will require diversion of traffic and temporary street parking and driveway access restrictions near the work zone. Please pay attention to traffic control flaggers and signs.
    • Noise – typical construction noise and vibration such as that generated by heavy equipment (e.g. excavators, dump trucks) will be emitted at the work site. Most noise will be generated during normal working hours: Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
