Schedule

Design Phase: Q4 2024 – Q2 2025

  • Note: All work is expected to be completed within two months’ time. Duration of work at each site varies but will take approximately one week on average.

Project Description

  • Scope of Work – Varies per work site but will generally include replacement and modernization of existing public drainage system assets including catch basins, manholes, and pipes. Ancillary work such as street pavement and sidewalk restoration will also be completed.
  • Purpose - The primary impetus for these repairs is the replacement of aging infrastructure. Needed repairs are identified during the City’s routine inspections of public drainage system assets, prioritized by City asset management staff, and constructed by a private contractor. Completing repair and replacement of assets before they fail saves taxpayers money and avoids other impacts that often come with repairing infrastructure under emergency conditions. The project will also make the affected drainage facilities safer and easier for crews to maintain and address performance issues such as groundwater infiltration and nuisance clogging.
  • What to Expect – During construction, people residing or traveling near work sites may experience the following impacts:
    • Traffic – The contractor will divert traffic from vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians around work zones using flaggers and/or traffic control devices during normal working hours (Monday through Friday, 7 AM – 6 PM) at minimum. Any temporary restriction of street parking space will be posted in advance of the work.
    • Noise – typical construction noise such as that generated by heavy equipment (e.g. excavators, dump trucks, etc.) will be emitted at work sites during normal working hours.
